Sharks grow and lose many teeth, sometimes as many as 35,000 in a lifetime. The numerous teeth are arranged in rows and vary in shape according to the shark’s diet, ranging from flat dense teeth to triangular with serrated edges. Fossilized shark teeth, once used to create tools, are now a wonderful source of information about the evolution and biology of these magnificent fish.
