Scallops are a bivalve mollusk, prized for their beautiful fluted, fan-shaped shells and their delicious sweet meat. The word scallop comes from the Ancient French word, “escalope," which means shell. All of our island shells are cast from actual shells found on the beaches of Martha’s Vineyard.
