Chilmark was named for a small town in England, and was first settled in 1660. It is located on the southwestern part of Martha’s Vineyard. The town is known for beautiful rural landscapes, small farms and the fishing village of Menemsha. The town seal recognizes Chilmark’s nautical heritage.
