Legend has it that long-ago seafarers crafted the much-admired sailor’s valentines for loved ones at home. Truth be told, many of the intricate octagonal seashell designs were made by skilled artisans in Barbados, and were brought home as souvenirs. Regardless of origin, antique sailor’s valentines are highly collectible today.
